Thanks Jim! We learned so much from you; you have a vast knowledge of dogs! We will continue to work with them – in baby steps, but we now have the tools to keep plugging away at it. We’ll keep you updated as to their progress. We truly appreciate all you’ve done for us and our dogs.

Just wanted to let you know Loki is doing so well. We keep practicing with him all the time. We had friends over today and he did great. They got to see what a friendly sweet dog he is. They couldn't believe how improved he was. Thanks again for all your help!

Your insight into Digby's behavior was invaluable to me in understanding how to approach him. I bought him in the dead of winter and was beyond frustrated with trying to get him to do anything! As I quickly learned from one visit with you, I was the problem. He is a spirited little guy and I was at the end of my rope.

Now we take pleasant walks, he has learned to "sit/stay","heal","leave it "and "down". It is another world for me now!

What I loved the most about the training was watching you get him to do whatever you wanted him to do with a quiet ,simple command and then reward. None of it was aversive.

We continue to keep up the lessons learned and hope that in the future he will move on to the next step in his training.

Working at the animal shelter I know how important
it is to help these dogs be on their best behavior, not
only for their sanity but to increase their odds for adoption.
Since you started working with these guys I can see a
big difference both with their behavior and in the publics
interest. I also wanted to thank you for being so helpful
with working with other volunteers. I have learned a great
deal more from you as well. Keep up the good work...
the dogs will love you for it.

Thanks Jim for all your help and patience (with the humans)! I think this was the best thing we could have done for Kai and Cosmo and us for that matter! You are the best trainer we've had!! I think the one on one training helped us really focus on what we need to do for them.

Many thanks to you! We now have a wonderful Saint!
Betsy walked around the block with Jim yesterday, and
walked past Amber, the Golden, like she wasn't even
there, even though Amber was barking up a storm!
I am amazed and so pleased with what we and Betsy
have learned in the last 6 weeks-we can't thank you enough!

We wanted to thank you so much for being so great
with Cooper and being patient with us. When we started
I was hoping we could just get Cooper to stay off the
furniture and behave on walks. Well he does that and
so much more. We learned alot and got more and more
confident every week. We think Cooper is the greatest
little dog and you have alot to do with that.

Jim came to us in a very unassuming way to request being
able to work with the dogs at the shelter. His purpose was to
work individually with the animals to assess their temperament
and needs, then work with them, teaching them some basics
of obedience training, little did we know what Jim had to offer
us. It quickly became obvious that Jim was a special person
and that he had a way with dogs that was uncanny. Not only
did he train the most difficult dogs, it was obvious that he loved
them and they loved him. One particular dog, Reno, who we all
loved but was an aggressive, unpredictable sort, took to Jim
after only a few sessions. We couldn't believe our eyes.
Reno looked forward to seeing Jim as Jim did to seeing Reno
as the two of them set off for their weekend training. The
difference in Reno on day one was amazing and the dog we
know now is a calm, loving, well mannered boy. He has also
joined Jim's household.

We had a blast with you, and Phebe is so much better, having met you. Our walks have been really good, and she was even able to do a down with a squirrel within her sights today. She didn't like it, but she did it. She's such a happy dog, now. I feel it was serendipitous that I asked a PARL volunteer for a recommendation at a random record-store yard sale, and Phebe got to work with you!

Again, thank you for all of your time, patience and work.

My husband and I did not have much hope for our little 4 month old hound dog, Rider, that we recently adopted from a shelter. He was crazy! He would not settle down - no matter how much we said "No!" or how many times we would put him in his crate.

We needed help and, thankfully, found Jim. He taught us how to handle and enjoy Rider ... and what a difference!

Jim treated us and Rider with patience and kindness. Now, Rider is a terrific 8 month old who obeys "sit" and "down" and comes when called! We are a much happier family.

Things with Nica have been terrific. We continue to be
amazed at what an incredible dog she is! Your work with
us was the key to learning to communicate with her, and
thus get her to trust us. We feel so lucky to have her!
Everyone who's met her since our training with you remarks
on how well-behaved and sweet she is- quite a change
from the reserved dog who used to ignore us 90% of the
time. We're no longer afraid to take her to the dog park,
or worry about how she'll interact with other dogs or
people on the street. It's incredible how different she is
and how different our relationship with her is, since we
trained with you. Thank you!

I can't believe the leash biting growling dog hater (aka Smithers) made such a change.

We've really gained a completely new perspective on the mind of our dogs.

This was an extremely worthwhile experience. Both Suzy & I truly enjoyed your company, and we hope to see you at the dog park again.

Just wanted to take a minute and tell you how much better
Snoopy is after having received your training. He walks much
better, doesn't try to run out of the house if the door is left
open and is much better when people stop by the house.
Just wanted to thank you for all you did.

Thank you Jim, for "saving" Toby. We thought we had
a hopeless case but with your exceptional training Toby
is no longer a crazy dog with attention deficit but a sweet
and attentive pup. His whole demeanor has changed
drastically and he is still surprising us every day!
Thank you for your patience and knowledge. You've
not only helped Toby understand us, you've help us
understand Toby. Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!

Reilly was at the shelter for a long time and is a very
active dog. Your professional work made his training smooth.

Although your knowledge as a trainer is exemplary, we were most impressed by the compassion you display.

Thanks again for helping us train Duke. He's come a long way
in a relatively short amount of time. Clearly, he (and we) are
much better off having gone through this experience.

I will enthusiastically endorse you and your training to anyone
that asks me how Duke became so well mannered.
